Four former workers have won cash settlement from bosses days before a tribunal in a row over migrant labour. The former employees of P and A Packing (Northern) Ltd. based in Irlam - Adam Grenhaigh, John Higgins, Phil Woodward and Paul Jones were claiming unfair dismissal and racial discrimination.
A tribunal was due to start on Monday, January 14 but on the Friday before the workers accepted a settlement for an undisclosed sum.
The workers had claimed that they were made redundant after training Polish workers to do their jobs. They said permanent staff were used to train up the temporary Polish workers and were later told there would have to be redundancies due to lack of work and 11 people were sacked.
Reading about the story in the local Salford Advertiser, Andy Woodcock offered them employment at his firm in Newton-le-Willows and they say they are enjoying their new jobs.
